About UsThe story of Honey Hut began in 1973 when Frank Page bought Bruno's Shoe Repair Shop at 4674 State Road in the Old Brooklyn area of Cleveland. He envisioned an ice cream store there that would attract families searching for a quality product at a fair price and excellent customer service. Frank knew the location would require a lot of renovation, so he set to work quickly, but it wasn’t long until he realized he would need some help. Luckily, Frank was a firefighter for the City of Cleveland so, with the help of his fellow firefighters, he remodeled the cobbler shoe shop in time to reopen the following summer. Frank’s vision finally came to fruition when the very first Honey Hut opened for business July 1st, 1974 with two flavors: Vanilla and Chocolate. After opening, Frank decided to continue expanding his flavor list, so he began making experimental batches of ice cream for his fellow firefighters to test. He still remembers the day when what would come to be known as his signature flavor, Honey Pecän, finally went over big at the fire station and was unanimously given the title "Excellent!"![]() Mission Statement: "To consistently provide the very best ice cream possible for our customers at a reasonable price." |
